Marilyn L. “Trange” Sweeney, age 85, of Sylvania, died April 25, 2021 at Franciscan Care Center, Toledo. She was born March 30, 1936 in Toledo to the late Ernest and Agnes (Dome) Cornish. Trange was a 1954 graduate of Whitmer High School where she was the head majorette. She worked many years as a local realtor, first with the former Bishop-Kandell Realty and later Sulphur Springs Realty. Trange was an extremely gifted artist, particularly with charcoal pencils and oil paint. She won many awards for her work and it could be seen in art shows as far away as Paris. She was past president of the Toledo Artist Club. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and this included a trip to Churchill Downs so could draw and paint horses. Trange and her family had wonderful experiences in Florida and Hawaii as well. She and her husband were a part of the “John Deere Breakfast Club”, a group that enjoyed breakfast together all over the Toledo area for many years. Kind, loving, and helpful, Trange was extremely devoted to her family and animals. She loved spending time with her grandchildren including attending many sporting events and parades throughout the years. She also dedicated many hours to lovingly babysitting her great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Susan Hall and Brian Hall; grandchildren, Traci Schweizer (Mike); Matt Hoddinott (Joy); Alison Burton (Sam); Derek Hall (Heather) and Tim Hoddinott; great grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Schweizer; Maci and Liam Hall; Hailey and Kelsey Burton; Anastasia Hoddinott; Clara, Crystal, and Victoria Buckman. Trange was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Sweeney in 2017; daughter, Sharon Barnhart; and brother, Ernest J. Cornish, Jr. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Franciscan Care Center, especially Sr. Jordan, Tameka, and Betty and the therapy department for giving her extra attention and looking out for her when her family was not able to be there. The family would also like to thank Lindsey and her aide from Southern Care Hospice for the excellent care and attention to detail that they provided. Family and friends are invited to visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road).
