Marilyn Schiffer Kline a retired Toledo Board of Education staff member. Started her teaching career in Leipsic, Ohio in 1958-59. Taught at DeVilbiss High School from 1959 as teacher for eight years; a Counselor at DeVilbiss High School for eight years and an Assistant Principal at DeVilbiss for ten years. An Assistant Director of Planning, Research and Evaluation until her retirement in 1998. She then started working at Bersticker Scott Funeral Home from 1998 to 2010.

She was the first Coordinator of the Toledo Public Schools "Dial-A-Teacher" program which began in October of 1985. This was a program developed to assist students and parents with homework. More than 10,000 calls were processed a year on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening from 4-8 pm. She was also the designated Coordinator that developed the Homeless Children Grant which worked with children living in seven shelters.

A former member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church where she was a Choir mother for the Cherub choir twenty eight years. Served as past chairman of the church's board of deacons, nominating committee. Program chairman for the church's 100 anniversary committee and a former Sunday school teach. A present active member of Sylvania Church of U.C.C.

A 1955 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School and 1958 graduate from Bluffton University. She received her Vocational Certificate from Ohio State University; Masters from Michigan State; and a Masters from The University of Toledo.

She was a member of the Stella Eastern Star Chapter and held several offices; a former member of the honor society of Pi Lambda, Phi Delta Kappa. A former member of the Cotillion Club, Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Zoo and Red Hats. An active volunteer at the American Cancer Society Discover Shop, Stranahan, Village Player, Rep Theater, Valentine, Franciscan Center and Flower Hospital. She loved to travel and had the privilege of covering a large part of the world.

Marilyn was the daughter of Max and Alice (Nemire) Crawfis. Sister, Joan (Jack, dec.) Oglesbee of Columbus Grove, Ohio; nieces, Juleen (dec.) (Dave) Walters, Jackie (Roger) Brinkman; nephews: Jeff (Pam) Oglesbee, James (Linda) Oglesbee; step-son Charles (Sandy) Kline; and step-daughter, Susan Bassett; four step grandchildren; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Marilyn will be Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11 am at Sylvania United Church of Christ.

There will also be a visitation at St John's Community Church Columbus Grove on Saturday July 11, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 am with Service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Gilboa Harmon Cemetery.
