Marilyn Irene Payne, age 86, passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 at her home. The daughter of Albert and Irene (Lott), she was born December 31, 1930 in Toledo, OH. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School in 1949 and affectionately called themselves the 49ers. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1953 with a Bachelors degree in Broadcasting and Early Childhood Education. She was a member of Zeta Rho Gamma at MSU. Marilyn was on the swim team for both DeVilbiss High School and MSU. She loved music and Broadway musicals. While at MSU she performed in a few musicals and was a student director of the musicals as well. She was an avid golfer and played tennis. At one time she taught both sports and achieved the coveted hole-in-one. Marilyn was a member of Sylvania Country Club and the Dendarah Court. She loved attending dinner parties and socializing with friends. She was very proud of the United States and always stayed informed on current events, especially American politics. She took a lot of pride in caring for her home and her yard. Marilyn will be remembered as a very loving and generous person, who regularly helped numerous charities. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her adoptive family Linda and Madelyn (Barbara) Deubner. Friends may visit the family on Saturday April 8, 2017 at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd) from 10-1 PM with a service at 1:00 PM Saturday. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Michigan State University.
