Marilyn Mizen

Marilyn Carol Mizen, 78, passed away at home in Westlake, Ohio on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Born May 22, 1945, to Robert and Catherine Mizen in Toledo, Ohio.

Marilyn went to St. Catherine of Sienna grade school and served as the editor of her Central Catholic High School yearbook. She was a graduate of the University of Toledo and the Cleveland Institute of Art. Always artistic, she dabbled in ceramics and metal but mostly loved the paint medium, eventually settling on photography as her principal discipline. She loved travelling to the East Coast to visit and photograph favorite lighthouses.

She was an educator, teaching over 20 years in the Avon Lake school system, always encouraging her students to find their artistic sides.

She is survived by her brother, James (Ann); brother-in-law, Richard Cieslewski; and dear cousins, Suann Long and Charlene Dillinger. She was a beloved aunt ("the fun one") to Laura, Michael, Jennifer (James), Sarah (Brett), Daniel (Lindsay), and Andrew (Kiley); as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and sister, Karen Cieslewski, with whom she is now reunited.

Guests may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH, on January 13, 2024, from 8:30-10:30 am with a Catholic funeral service at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Marilyn's honor to Toledo Central Catholic High School.
