Marilyn Jean Goeckerman

January 30, 1936 — April 6, 2023

Marilyn J. Goeckerman (Reitzel) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023,

at the age of 87. She was a lifelong resident of Perrysburg, Ohio. Marilyn was born in Perrysburg, in

January of 1936, to Raymond and Ila (Snyder)Reitzel.

Marilyn was a graduate of Perrysburg High School. She married Gordon H. Goeckerman in April 1959, where they enjoyed 53 years together. He preceded her in death in June, 2012. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, Ohio where she assisted with Holy Communion and other services. Marilyn worked as a data entry operator for many years. She began her career at Rossford Ordinance, then continued with Toledo Trust Bank, which later became

Key Bank, where she retired.

As her second career, she joined the team at Garlic Expressions, where she worked on the production line and sorted garlic for many years. Until last June, she continued to sort garlic and enjoy the company of her fellow workers who became her extended family.

Marilyn enjoyed working in her yard. She planted flowers and mowed the grass on her John Deere tractor. She was very supportive of her son’s interest in Aviation from a young age and continued to support him as he pursued an eventual career. He is a Senior Captain at Southwest Airlines. The family spent many hours, over the years visiting airports around the country and watching airplanes. She and Ray continued this up until very recently, when they visited Toledo Express Airport and the airport in Bowling Green. They enjoyed their shared interest while sitting in the car watching the airplanes. Over the years, Marilyn continued to follow Ray’s weekly flight schedule so that she

could be a part of his flights around the country.

She is survived by her son, Ray (Debbie) of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her Godchild, Pam Damschroder- McMullin of Reno,NV, daughter of her lifelong friend Nancy Pries. She was recently preceded in death by her beloved sister, Beverly McNeeley of Toledo, OH. Her brother Keith Reitzel, of Edon, OH, passed away in 2003, as well as his son Dave in 2018.

Marilyn’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to their family, many

friends and neighbors, as well as the team at Garlic Expressions. We would especially like to thank the healthcare workers and staff at Waterford at Levis Commons, her nurse Kathy from Ohioans Home Healthcare, and her Nurse Tracy from Hospice of Northwest Ohio. An extra special thank you to Pastor Mike Hughes of St. John’s Lutheran Church, for his many visits and support over these months.

Family and Friends will be received for a celebration of life at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge,OH, on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 9-11 am. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Mike Hughes, will commence at 11 am. Following the service, Marilyn will be laid to rest next to Gordon at Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH.
