Marillyn (Douglas) Wheeler, 93, of Toledo passed away after a brief illness on November 27th at Flower Hospital. Marillyn was born on June 29, 1921 to Ray and Lida Douglas. She graduated from Libbey High School and then attended secretarial school. After graduation Marillyn worked at McKesson Appliance company, as an executive secretary in the Toledo Trust Company, at Spencer Manor, and as secretary of Collingwood United Methodist from which she retired. While bowling in a womens league, a friend thought one of her husbands friends in the mens league would be a good match. Thats how she met and married Ronald Wheeler. Marilyn was active in the United Methodist Women, Friendly Center, and Flower Hospital Guild. She enjoyed playing pinochle with a group of friends from church every month. She remained active until the last two weeks of her life attending Body Recall exercise class three times a week and traveling to Myrtle Beach this past August to meet her first great-great niece Chloe. Marillyn was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Wheeler, her parents, her sister Elaine Helms and brother James Douglas. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda; nieces Patty (John) Radabaugh, Judy Helms, Brooke Douglas, Sandy Murdaugh and Jackie Douglas; nephews Jim Douglas, Dennis (Maryann) Leach, Gordon (Cathy) Helms, and Ray (Kim) Douglas; and several great nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Sunday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm where services will be held on Monday at 10:00 am. Pastors Mary Sullivan and Paula Stewart will preside with interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The family requests tributes to be given to St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Toledo, or to the American Cancer Society.
