Marie Ritter

Marie Louise Kruecke Ritter, 92 passed away in her sleep at Ebeid Residence of ProMedica Hospice in Sylvania, OH, on August 20, 2009. She was the mother of Dr. Howard L. Ritter, Jr. of Maumee. Marie was born on January 20, 1917, in Lancaster, PA, to Charles Karl F. and Mabel H. Kruecke. She married Howard L. Ritter on July 12, 1941, in Annapolis, MD. When her husband was recruited to be Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at Miami University in 1952, Marie packed up the family of five and made a home in Oxford, OH, for what ultimately was to be 57 years. Marie was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Oxford and a docent at the Miami University Art Museum, and maintained many friendships and acquaintances in the church and university communities. She continued living in Oxford independently until moving to assisted living at age 89, remaining there for two years until moving to Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek in Holland in March 2009. She entered Ebeid Hospice Residence on August 18. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, parents and daughter Margaret Jo. She is survived and will sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her children Howard Cynthia, Carl Pete Angelica Ritter, Flower Mount, TX, Mary Ann Neil Hagerty, Portland, OR and Mark Ritter, Lexington, VA and by nine grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staffs at Lutheran Village, St. Lukes Hospital 3 East, 2 West and Interventional Radiology in Maumee, and the Ebeid Residence, as well at to Dr. Mark Bruss and his colleagues at Waterville Family Physicians and Dr. Nasser Smiley of Northwest Ohio Cardiology Consultants, for their caring support of Mom these last five months.
