Marie Drabik Higgins

Marie V. Higgins, 92, of Holland, died February 21, 2015 with family at her bedside at Spring Meadows Senior Community. Marie was born July 6, 1922 in Holland to the late Stanley and Pearl (Osowski) Drabik. She attended Immaculate Conception School in Marygrove and graduated from Swanton High School in 1940. Marie worked for 27 years in purchasing with Surface Combustion. She had previously been employed with both Whirlpool and Westinghouse. Marie was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed baking and was known for her velvet cut-out cookies and her red velvet cake. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Higgins; sisters, Anne Koralewski, Alice Drabik and Harriet Dorotiak; and brothers, Daniel and Edmund Drabik. She is survived by a sister, Jeanette Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will begin at 6:15 p.m. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Friday at 9:45 a.m. and proceed to St. Pius X Church, 3011 Carskaddon St., Toledo, for 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Spring Meadows and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
