Marie Goddu passed away on April 8, 2018. She was born November 28, 1920 and grew up in Springfield, MA with her much loved sister, Alice. Marie was an accomplished pianist often accompanying her father who was the 1st chair violinist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. In 1942, while working at the war department, Marie met her future husband, Vincent Goddu. They had two children, Diane who was born in SC, and Roger in MA. In 1954 the family moved to Sunbury, PA and subsequently to Toledo, Ohio, in 1955 where Marie has resided until her move to Kingston Residence of Sylvania. Marie was always interested in both people and business and was employed by Seaway Food Town as Director of Human Resources from 1956-1980. She also served as the President of the Women’s Personnel Assoc. of Toledo. In her later years she worked at the front desk of the Golden Haven Nursing Home and at St. Luke’s Hospital. Marie was very outgoing and had a wonderful zest for life, always energetic and enthusiastic, with a great sense of style. She was devoted to those she loved and had a playful sense of humor. Marie and her family were members of St. Clement church in Trilby and worshipped there regularly. Her husband Vincent, her sister, Alice, and her daughter, Diane, preceded Marie in death. She will be forever missed and remembered with love by her son Roger (Kate), five granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and her niece, Denise Winston. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Maries Life will be held Sunday, June 3, at the Inverness Club 5601 Dorr St. Toledo, OH 43615 at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are being handled by Walker Funeral Home 419-841-2422.
