Marian C. Stevens

On Thursday April 6, 2023 Marian Stevens passed away peacefully at the age of 86. She was born on July 12th, 1936 to Marcella (Bemis) and George Butterfield of Clay Center, Ohio. She wed Ralph Stevens on January 29, 1955 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Genoa. Together they raised six children and were happily married for 68 years.

Marian was a woman of unshakeable faith who spent her life showing the people around her an unselfish love. Her life was a testament to her faith and the love of Christ shown through her in all she did. She worked as the custodian and secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa where she also volunteered in the thrift store and coordinated the church food pantry alongside her husband. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was a Girl Scout leader for over 60 years. She was a Troop Leader for hundreds of girls and spent many summers at Girl Scout camps sharing her love of scouting with generation after generation. She cooked for the Kiwanis Club, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #324, and a fixture in the church choir. She was often found riding her bike around town delivering the Toledo Blade or on her way to choir practice on Wednesday nights. Marian resided at Genoa Retirement Village for the past decade where the staff cared for her and loved her as though she were their own family. Her family will be forever grateful for the compassion and care they provided to her.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband Ralph, daughter Nancy, daughter-in-law Jill, and great-grandchildren Jacob and Hannah. While Marian will be greatly missed, it is a comfort to know that she is reunited with her husband and family who have gone before her. She is survived by her children Paul, Joyce, Linda, Susan, and Lyn (Adele), as well as 13 grandchildren and an ever-growing number of great and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation for Marian will be held from 3:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2023 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 14, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main St., Genoa.
