Marguerite Shaheen

Marguerite Shaheen, 82, of Cedar Rapids, IA died Sunday March 20, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids, IA. Marguerite was born July 21, 1933 in Montreal Quebec, Canada. She married Fred Shaheen on November 15, 1959. With her husband they served parishes in Montreal, Toledo, Charleston, West Virginia, Syracuse, Louisville, Cambridge, Worcester as well as several Mission Parishes. During the last 9 years she was a member of St. George Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids. Marguerite was a homemaker, and when her children were grown she began to work in retail. She loved cooking, knitting, crocheting, embroidery and spending time with her family and her many friends. Marguerite had deep faith, lived the Gospel and passed the great faith to her family and friends. These words best describe Marguerite: deeply pious, generous, compassionate and courageous. She gave the inspiration of hope to all. Marguerite‘s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children; Kh. Christina (V. Rev. Fr. John) Reimann and their children; Anastasia and Elizabeth Reimann all of San Diego, California, Lorraine (John) Daher and their children; Melissa, Edward, Meagan Daher all of Tampa, Florida, Rev. Fr. Michael (Kh. Adma) Shaheen and their children; Nathaniel and Tatiana Shaheen all of Toledo, Ohio, and V. Rev. Fr. Fred (Kh. Michelle) Shaheen and their children, William, Raphael, Eirene, Zoe and Harry Shaheen all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a sister, Madeline Haddad of Montreal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michel and Annette (Dipici) Haddad, her husband, V. Rev. Fr. George Shaheen, her siblings; John Haddad, Jamilie Rahal and Marina Audette. Friends may visit the family on Thursday March 24, 2016 from2:00-4:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral 3754 Woodley Rd Toledo, OH 43606 with Trisagion Prayer at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 AM. Entombment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral
