Marguerite C. Braun

Marguerite C. Braun, age 99, entered eternal life on August 28, 2025. She was born in Ann Arbor, MI, on September 14, 1925, to parents Harry and Elizabeth (Lauer) Cooch.

Marguerite’s life was marked by care and service to others. She was a loving mother to six children. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, baking, needlework and crafting. She was also very involved in the community as a Girl Scout leader, and food pantry and thrift store worker for many years. When she was in her eighties, Marguerite started a ministry with women from her church to make sleeping bags and toiletry care packages for the homeless. She was always on the lookout for a way to help other people.

Her love for sewing also found other outlets such as her role making choir and acolyte robes, clothing, bridal wear, décor and teaching her daughters how to sew. Marguerite intentionally lived out her Christian faith all her life. Her favorite t-shirt says, “Heaven is my home. I’m just here recruiting.” She has finally made it to her true home, and her family will always cherish the example of love and service she set for them.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth C. Braun; sons, Dan K. and Richard S. Braun; and brothers, Theodore and Richard Cooch. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Diane) Braun, Janet (Josef) Gerner, Nancy (Kenneth) Kostanski, and Barbara (Mark) Hafner; sister, Patricia Siboloski; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family particularly thanks Marguerite’s special caregivers, Debbie Braun, Tiffany Braun Edens, Kim Swann, and the staff at Otterbein Sunset House.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Marguerite’s life on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr, Toledo, OH, with visitation at 10 a.m. and a service beginning at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westgate Chapel of the C&MA.
