Marguerite N. Braun, age 92, died peacefully Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Kingston Residence of Sylvania surrounded by her friends and family. She and her twin sister, Marjorie were born July 14, 1922 in Marinette, WI to Nels and Olga (Erickson) Nelson. Marguerite graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1943 with a degree in early education. Shorty after the war, she met the love of her life, Glenn Buddy Braun, a World War II veteran. They were married in 1947. She worked in the resort industry at the Wisconsin Dells and later for Abbott Industries, Libbey Owens Ford, GWB Associates and as a librarian for Parke Davis. She was also a high school English teacher before realizing her true passion as a kindergarten teacher, where she adored her students. She was a very active member of Hope Lutheran Church. A wonderful gardener, Marguerite was a member and one time President of the Corey Woods Garden Club. She was also an excellent cook and avid bridge player, being a member of several bridge clubs. She was also a member of AUW. Marguerite loved making people laugh and socializing. She adored her grandchildren and treasured her time with them. She and her husband, Glenn, spent many wonderful summers with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Somerset in Michigan. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; son-in-law, Terry Whiddon; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Eppler; and brothers-in-law, Norval Rather and Clyde Witt. She is survived by her children, Cindy Whiddon, Marci Braun, and Steve (Terri) Braun; grandchildren, Jeremy (Stacy) Whiddon, Erin Braun, Darcie (Ryan Brzak) Whiddon, Brittany Glaser, Justin Braun, and Taylor Braun-Dorrell; great-grandchildren, Graham Whiddon and Danielle Whiddon-Brzak; sister, Marjorie Rather; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Witt; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on at Kingston Care of Sylvania, 4125 King Rd., Sylvania, Ohio, on February 28th at 2 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2500 N.
