Marguarite “Rita” Moritz, 73, a long time Genoa resident, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 22, 1949, to John and Margaret (Strick) Lajti. She graduated from Clay High School in 1967 and attended nursing school where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1972. Although Rita met Bruce R. Moritz in 1969, they waited to wed until after her graduation from nursing school; they were married at St. Stephens Catholic Church, November 25, 1972. Rita worked as an LPN for the Genoa Care Center and St. Charles Hospital and after her retirement she worked for the former Andersons store at the Woodville Mall and Millers Market.
Rita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed every minute she spent with her family. She looked forward to attending all of their sporting events and followed them during their travel ball days. Family vacations usually included trips to ballparks and beaches in Florida and even a trip to Hawaii. Rita was a hard worker and was always driven to complete the challenge to the best of her ability, a trait her family loved.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bruce, daughter, Jodie (Dave Fletcher) Schumacher, son, Bruce Craig Moritz, and grandchildren, Samantha, Adam and Sidney, siblings, John Lajti, Steve (Mary) Lajti, Ron (Shirley) Lajti, Marianne (Joe) Schemenauer, Helen Munsch, Daniel (Judy) Lajti, Gerald Lajti, William Lajti, Rosemary (Jim) Kerekes, Elaine Chandler and a host of nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Lajti, and his late wife, Sandy.
