Margot Bennett Clark, age 78, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008 at West Park Place surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toledo on May 11, 1930 to Geoffrey and Margaret Smith Clark Bennett. Margot went to Maumee Country Day School, Foxcroft School and Ogontz College. She grew up spending summers on Rattlesnake Island where she developed a love for island life, horses and boating. She met the love of her life, Everett Rennie Clark at the Roundhouse on Put-In-Bay and they spent their honeymoon on Rattlesnake Island. Margot and Rennie had 6 wonderful children and loved spending time boating on the Great Lakes. They were members of the Toledo Power Squadron and the Toledo Yacht Club. Margot was one of the original employees of Jacobsons and was often the top sales person. Her laugh was infectious and could be heard throughout the store. She retired in 1996 after 22 years. After retirement, she worked as a board member for the Flower Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in their gift shop. In her life, she was also involved in Toledo Day Nursery, the Junior League and the Juvenile Detention Center. Margot was happiest when surrounded by her six kids and a martini in her hand. Margot is survived by her children, Deb Batdorf, Ward Debbie Clark, Geoffrey Clark, John Gwen Clark, Julie Dan Donaldson and Amy Clark; grandchildren, Bryan Batdorf, Bradley Batdorf, Michael Lindi Mensing Batdorf, Elisabeth Jason Anderson Clark, Steven Clark, Laura Clark, Scott Clark, Joseph Donaldson, Jamie Donaldson, Ellen Clark, and Emily Clark; great-grandchildren, Andrew Batdorf, Shawn Batdorf, Carter Batdorf and Aidan Batdorf. Margot was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rennie, who passed away 24 years ago and her brother and best friend, Geoffrey Bennett.
