Margie K. Miller-Detoto

October 15, 1951 — November 18, 2023

Margie Kaye Miller-DeToto died peacefully at The Grove Memory Care facility in Toledo on November 18, 2023, at the age of 72. She was born to John and Margery (Sheffler) Whitney on October 15, 1951. She married Joe DeToto on May 16th 1987. She grew up in Niles, Ohio thru high school. First attending college at Bowling Green State University then completing her college education at the University of Toledo receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1982 as class valedictorian.


Working at Owens-Illinois in many different leadership positions, she spent 20 years contributing to OI before beginning her own consulting firm focused on project management. Her courage led her to the United Kingdom where she lived for nine months. At the age of 56 she decided to change careers, return to school at Owen’s Community College, and received her Associate of Applied Science Degree.


Cleveland Clinic Health System was Margie’s next career stop and she worked for them for over 9 years. From Electronic Health Record Analyst to Supervisor of Health Information Management, Margie’s dedication to work and excellence shined brightly.


Margie enjoyed gardening, travel, and many vacations. Her favorite foods were Mancy’s Filet Mignon and Marco’s pizza. Her love and companionship were so special to her family and friends.


She will be so missed by her husband, Joseph DeToto; 7 step grandchildren; Olivia, Dominic, Joe, Devon, Jack, Dylan, and Daxton. Also, her daughter-in-laws Aurora (Connecticut) & Sandy DeToto (East Texas) along with daughter-in-law Karen and stepson Michael DeToto (West Texas) will likewise miss her presence. Additionally, her sister and family from Cortland & Warren Ohio area Peggy Webb and husband Paul Webb along with her nieces Lauren, Megan and Brandon and their families. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law- Ray and Andrea DeToto, and their children Brian and Kimberly and their families in the Maumee, Perrysburg, and Powell areas.


Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Margery Whitney; grandparents, Carl and Thelma Sheffler; step-sons, Anthony DeToto, David DeToto, and nephew, Craig DeToto.


A “one” hour funeral service will be held at Walker Funeral Home at 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. on Monday, November 27, starting at 1pm with live streaming available for those unable to attend in person.


Interment will take place at Niles Cemetery in Niles, Ohio (1213 Niles Cortland Rd) on Tuesday, November 28, at 12 pm.


In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution in Margie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s choice.
