Margie A. Merz, age 79, of Toledo, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. A lifelong area resident, Margie was born Feb. 1, 1938 in Toledo to the late Adolph and Marguerite (DeWitt) Schaaf. She was an entrepreneur, owning DeLynn’s Beauty Salon and then Country Lane Crafts. Margie was well known at area craft shows for the fabric Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, bunnies and geese clothes that she made. She is survived by her husband, August Merz, Jr.; children, Robert Reagan and wife Kelly of Tampa, FL; Debra Hanely and husband Bruce of Toledo; step-children, Greg Merz and wife Diane of Columbus, Lisa and husband Gary Burris of Lancaster, and Deborah Gilgien of Cedar Bluff, AL. Margie was affectionately known as Bunya by her grandchildren, Ross, Chloe and Claire Hanely, Elizabeth and Sophia Reagan, Stephanie, Christina, Allyson and Jacob Merz, Bambi Grayley and Brandon Burris; and many great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2017. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice and online condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
