Margie D. Merle, 92, of Genoa, died in the morning of Thursday, August 8, 2019, in her home. Margie was born June 25, 1927, in Woodville, Ohio, to Henry F. and Claria E. (Dierker) Buehning. On March 21, 1953, in Woodville she married Ernest E. Merle and he preceded her in death in 2001. Margie was a homemaker and many years ago had worked as a waitress and cook at the former Whitehouse Restaurant in Genoa and as a nurses aide at Fremont Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville and also attended St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. Margie is survived by her daughters, Patricia Pheils of Oregon, Nancy Maglothin of Lexington, KY, and son, Don Merle of Genoa; grandchildren, Wendy Pheils, Heidi (Mark) Pheils-Simon, Lori (Dave) Whisman, Darcy (Jake) Cool and Michael Maglothin; and great grandchildren, John (Jai) Kaczynski, Anthony Pheils and Kayla Whisman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karen DeVinney, brothers, Kenneth, Victor and Luther Buehning, sister, Luella Mock and infant sisters, Loretta and Lorena Buehning. A graveside service will be held in Clay Township Cemetery on Friday, August 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
