It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Margherita (Marge) (Saccucci) Rowe on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Flower Hospital. Mom sat down with one of her daughters before her passing, and wanted to make sure her obituary reflected everything she wanted to say. So, these are her words, with love from her daughters mixed in. Marge was born in Toledo on April 19, 1936 to Nicholas and Mary (Simone) Saccucci, both immigrants from Italy. She attended St. Charles Grade School, and graduated in 1954 from Libbey High School. She then graduated from Stautzenberger Secretarial College and started her career as an Executive Assistant at OI. She met and married her one true love, Richard (Dick) on April 30, 1960. She became a stay at home mom as together they raised 6 daughters. They were married for 22 years until his untimely death in 1983 at the young age of 46. She successfully continued to raise their children to adulthood, and was a proud and loving Grandma and Great Grandma. As her daughters attended St. Clement Catholic Grade School, Marge was very involved as room mother, campfire leader and lunch lady, as well as helping her husband with many PTA and school projects and drives (She did all of the work, and of course he got all the credit). She was a lifetime member of St. Clement Parish, with someone in the family attending the school from 1967 until the school closed in 2008. Marge made many lifelong friends living on Calyx Lane for over 52 years. Together Dick, Marge, and the neighbors had many years of block parties, cards, Pinochle, cookie exchanges, 4th of July picnics, and so many other cherished memories. She was especially known for making her famous “Pink Ladies”. Marge went back to work in 1978 as a Bank Teller at Sylvania Savings, Toledo Trust, Society, and retired in 2006 from Key Bank. She worked most of her banking years at the Monroe/Sylvania Branch until it closed, and then finished the rest of her career at the Talmadge Road Branch. As her children grew up and had families of their own, Marge was always the center of the family. It was her most special times, and we were all her greatest accomplishment. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She and her family’s favorite tradition was Sunday dinner at Mom’s house. During the summer, she also enjoyed doing the Sunday dinners and spending time with her family and in laws “the other Rowe’s” at their Devils Lake Cottage. Many wonderful and fun memories were made over the years there. She was a great cook, and loved to cook and bake for many occasions, and of course we always had to have dessert every Sunday. We all loved to eat her many delicious meals. Marge enjoyed her last couple of years residing at Sunset Village in Sylvania. The last 2 years of her life were very challenging due to health issues and she endured great difficulty, but she showed us all how to handle adversity with grace, courage, and always humor. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sue Rowe; Terri (James Kroetz) Rowe-Jamie Rowe; Katie Pickens-Stephanie (Fred) Weidenthal, Jayden Scott, Addison, Freddie, and Cole Weidenthal-James (Rosalie) Pickens, Emma and Gianna Pickens-Emily (Austin Jacobs) Pickens; Linda (Wayne) Harris-Richard (Jessica) Harris, Brody and Hartley Harris-Cory (Toni) Harris-Nicholas (Kayleigh Heckel) Harris-Lauren and Erica Harris; Dianne (Shawn) Osborn; Richelle (Ryan) Smith-Carter (Kylie Foetisch), Carson and Bella Smith. She also leaves behind very special friends of over 50 years, Carol, Dolly, Marianne, and Sandy, many other friends, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews including the “other Rowes”, the Saccuccis, and the Reardons. In addition to her husband, Richard, Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Michael Harris, brother Marvin (Carol) Saccucci, sister Antoinette (Edward) Reardon, nephew Edward Reardon, and special brother and sister in law Ben and Joan Rowe. Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) with sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5411 Main St. in Sylvania with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery. Masks will be required at both events and strict COVID precautions will be followed. Mass will also be available to livestream by going to our website, walkerfuneralhomes.com and clicking on Margherita’s “tribute wall” on her page. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mom wanted to make sure it was a mass of celebration of her wonderful life. She loved her family more than anything, and wanted to be sure she thanked them for all of the love shown to her, and the happy memories, over the years. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Village for the wonderful and loving care they provided to her in the last couple of years of her life. Especially for this last year during COVID, when she couldn’t be with her family like she so desperately wanted to be, they all stepped up and gave her so much love and friendship. We also would especially like to thank our sister Sue for being Mom’s caretaker for the last few years. You have gone above and beyond in so many ways, and we can never thank you enough for the love and selfless care you provided to her. We know Mom is once again with Dad, and we all take solace in knowing they are in each other’s arms. Rest easy Mom/Marge/Gma/Gram/GG. We will keep your legacy alive. Thank you for all you have sacrificed and done for us!
