Margaret C. Whitson

Margaret C. Whitson, 83, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on September 16, 1931 in Ducker Station, KY, the daughter of James E. and Hattie (Abbott) Smith. She worked as a waitress/hostess at the Island House and finished her career at Mon Ami. Margaret was married to Eugene Whitson for more than 61 years, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2009. Margaret enjoyed boating, bowling, cooking, music and reading. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughters: Cynthia A. (Hugh) Shamhart and Brenda B. (Gene) Keckler; 4 Grandchildren; 3 Step-Children and 5 Great-Grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 infant brothers, brothers: John and Paul, sisters: Rebecca, Rachel, Nettie and Ruby. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, May13, 2015 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH, with visitation from noon until 1:00PM. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH Memorial donations in memory of Margaret may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH.
