Margaret J. Sorbie

October 23, 1923 — July 1, 2009

Sorbie Margaret J. Margaret J. Sorbie, aged 85, the daughter of Peter and Jean Hamilton of Lanarkshire, Scotland, passed away Wednesday July 1st, 2009 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital. She was born in Scotland, thence moved to Toledo soon after her marriage, held in Scotland, to Tom Sorbie in 1964. Margaret worked in the Trust Department at First National Bank, later became Fifth Third, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the Lincoln League. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Cowan of Kilmarnock, Scotland; and her brother, Jim Hamilton of Birmingham, England; being preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her brother, William Hamilton of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces in Scotland, England and Nova Scotia, having being especially close to Margaret Hamilton of Troon, and Jean McLeod of Kilmarnock, Scotland. The family would especially wish to acknowledge the tremendous kindness, care and support shown by her close friends; Maude Pearson, Sheila & Evan Thomas, Ian & Nancy Martin, Maureen Becker, Sue & Bill Roebuck, and Leann Earp. Friends may visit the family at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue, west of Corey Rd where visitation will be held on Sunday July 5th from 5:00 and 8:00pm, and funeral services will be on Monday July 6th at 11:00am, with the interment following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
