Margaret "Peg" Schenk

Margaret C. Schenk (Peg/Deanie), age 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 3, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas, the youngest child of Patrick John and Catherine (Kate) Cecilia Malloy. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her son Patrick, and three siblings Dorothy, Mary and James. Peg graduated from Ward High School in Kansas City and went to work at Owens Corning, where she met the love of her life William C. Schenk, son of William Carl and Ella Mae Schenk. They married on June 14, 1951, and were married for 55 years. Together they followed William’s career from Kansas City, KS, Huntingdon, PA and Anderson, SC eventually settling in Toledo, OH. They made a happy home and great friends in all these places. Together they had 8 children, William C. Schenk III (Mary Beth), Christina Cox (Lester), Catherine Schenk, Patrick Schenk (Jeannie), Timothy Schenk (Amy), Michael Schenk (Connie), Matthew Schenk (Maureen) and Kevin Schenk (Sarah). She was a loving grandmother to eighteen grandchildren, William, Eric, Jesse, Jennifer, Trev, Nick, Paul, Aaron, Christopher, Matthew, Liam, Alex, Ellie, Max, Maggie, Molly, Maddie and Milo and 7 great grandchildren. Peg always enjoyed the opportunity to travel and see new places. Together with her husband they always explored the historical sites and gardens wherever they traveled. They especially enjoyed traveling and visits with her sisters and their families. Peg also enjoyed working in the garden as a past time. As the children grew and moved away, a small patch of dirt at the corner of the property turned into a three-level garden the length of the yard that became the showcase of the neighborhood and a gathering place to chat with friends and neighbors. Her life was devoted to and filled with family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church on Harvest Lane. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
