Margaret Sue Powell

September 14, 1939 — April 30, 2024

Margaret “Sue” Powell, 84, of Liberty Center, OH passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 14, 1939 in Marion, OH to Osmond “Bus” and Elma Mary (Sage) Morrison. On August 29, 1959 she married Richard H. “Dick” Powell, and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2017. Sue and Dick met in the 3rd grade, were friends through school, and he finally asked her out on a date just after they graduated high school. They were together ever since, enjoying over 58 years of marriage. Sue worked as a homemaker primarily and enjoyed raising their four children in South Toledo. Her family was always her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, family vacations, going out to eat, and weekly family dinners together.

Sue was a member of the “JAKS” (Jane, Alice, Kay & Sue) Bridge group for more than 55 years, which her husband referred to jokingly as the Cackling Hens! She was a former member of the Glendale Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed going to garage sales with Dick, drinking a good margarita, cooking for her family, and she had a special love for all the family’s dogs.

Her family is going to miss her love for them, the way she tried to make everybody happy, always being there with a listening ear and her being that trusted person they could always talk to. Sue was a very selfless person, always putting others first.

She is survived by her children, David (Heidi) Powell, Stephen “Beaver” (Lori) Powell, and Jeanne (Mike) Dotson, grandchildren, Zack Powell, Kaili Powell, Shannon Dotson, and Victoria “Tori” Dotson, great granddaughter, Olivia Perez, sister-in-law Kay Klement, brother-in-law Daryl Powell, numerous nieces & nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Michael “Mike” Powell, and sister, Elizabeth “Ann” Hess.

Sue will be cremated under the direct care of the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Maumee, OH. Per the family’s wishes, a private service and interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Maumee, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Sue may be given to Heartland Hospice.
