Margaret Mary Michalak

Margaret M. Michalak, 86, of Toledo, Ohio, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
She was born on July 22, 1939, to the late Lawrence and Eugenia Chavalia. Marge was the beloved wife of 57 years to John Michalak Jr., who preceded her in death on May 11, 2017.
She was the loving mother of Dr. Michelle Michalak (husband Dr. Mark Hardesty) and Michael Michalak (Sissy Hunter). Marge was a cherished Nana to Ashlee Michalak (Dan Rife), Ryon Michalak, Megan (Dave) Osterholt, and Molly (Brandon) Berger, along with treasured great-grandchildren Nathan, Josephine, Bernadette, Lillian, Paul, Adelaide. Lucas and Elizabeth.
Marge worked as the Title I Reading Secretary for Toledo Public Schools for many years. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Class of 1957. She was the first inductee into the Notre Dame Academy Alumnae Hall of Fame.
Her Catholic faith was a guiding presence throughout her life and brought her great comfort, strength, and devotion to her family and community.
She generously volunteered her time with many organizations throughout her life. Marge loved the theater, tending to her flower gardens, and spending time with her family.
While Alzheimer's disease slowly took the vibrant mind we knew and loved, it could never erase the beautiful legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and devotion Marge leaves behind.
On May 23rd, 2026, the Rosary will be prayed at 9:40, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5562 Dorr Street, Toledo, Ohio. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
