Margaret Ferro

Margaret Peggy Dunn Ferro, 75, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2011. Peggy was born on July 16, 1936, the daughter of Dr. Cornelius Emery Dunn and Margaret Kutchey Dunn of Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from the Providence School of Nursing. Her registered nursing career included ten years with the American Red Cross. Peggy had a sharp wit and a fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed Scrabble, card games with her grandchildren and Sunday New York Times crossword puzzles. She remains famous for her hand knitted Christmas stockings. She loved to travel to her beloved Ireland, to the sunny beaches Hilton Head, and to the shores of Drummond Island. She was remarkable for her wide range of interests including music and playing golf, which she missed in her later years. Peggy was an avid reader and often remarked that she would have enjoyed being a librarian. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph; five children-Frank Ferro, Meg Bob Milano, Patrick Susanne Ferro, Mary Ron Rusnak and Charlie Kristin Ferro; eleven grandchildren, Angelo, Aaron, Mallory, Bobby, Maggie, JP, Amelia, Katy, Cecilia, Matthew and Theodore; brother, Patrick Jean Dunn; sister, Barbara Benson; and sister-in-law, Joan Dunn. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John Dunn and Jack McKearney. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Road concluded with scripture services at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4605 St. Anthony Road, Temperance, Michigan. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donors choice.
