Margaret M. Fern, age 77, a native and lifelong resident of Toledo, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior the morning of January 18, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born February 12, 1940 to the late Elizabeth (Koscho) and John Masney. She attended Cedar Creek Church in West Toledo and was a past member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). Whether it be through time, donation or other gifts, she was always extending herself to others in generosity. She loved her time served as a volunteer at Hospice and the Bridge at Monroe Street United Methodist Church. “Margo” was deeply devoted to her family. Her six grandchildren were the highlights of her life. Her laugh was infectious, while always remaining a true lady. She loved the home she created for her husband and children and often opened it up to friends and family. Many gatherings, meals and laughter were shared in her beautiful space. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Heidi (Jeff) Clausius, Heather (Brandon) Ward, Leslie Fern and Gretchen (Joe) Lapham; six grandchildren whom she adored, Allison and Max Clausius, Ethan and Molly Ward, William and Jack Lapham; sisters, Sr. Andre Marie Masney, SND and Barbara Hyter; and brother, Louis (Sharon) Masney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard W. Fern on February 12, 2014; infant son, Richard; brother, John; and sister, Andrea. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St., Toledo. Entombment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and aides at Hospice of NW Ohio for their incredible compassion and love that they extended to our entire family, especially Mom. In memory of Margo, the family requests, in lieu of flowers and donations, that friends offer an act of kindness to someone in need or celebrate her by playing a Neil Diamond song.
