Margaret Jean Peggy Duross, 79, of Sylvania Township, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. Peggy was born August 9, 1934 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of the late Patrick Lawless and Mary Zimmerman Lawless. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Michael High School, Pontiac, and the Pontiac Business Institute. She was a legal secretary for law firms in Pontiac and in Springfield, Ohio, before she married and raised her family. Peggy married Thomas P. Duross on September 8, 1956 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Pontiac, and he survives. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Peggy was an Old Orchard resident for more than 30 years before moving to Sylvania Township. She was a member of Corpus Christi University Parish and its choir and sang in the past with the former Toledo Symphony Orchestra chorus. For more than 30 years, Peggy was a weekly volunteer worker at the Claver House, a Catholic social services group that prepares and serves food to those in need. She enjoyed winter trips to Florida where she renewed friendships with people from throughout the country. While there, she attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Besides her husband of 57 years, Thomas, Peggy is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Duross Ken Luymes, Manhattan, New York, Jane Duross and Eileen Duross, both of Toledo, and Mary Ellen Coyne Richard, of Hilliard, OH; sons, Dennis Becky of Lexington, Kentucky and William, of Toledo; sisters, Barbara Fairbrother, of Pontiac and Janet Muto, of Ottawa Hills; grandsons, Mitchell, Owen, Richie, Dennis, and Matthew; granddaughter, Lisa; great-grandson, Desmond; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. with a 8:00 p.m. Rosary Service at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday with prayers at the funeral home followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr St. Toledo, OH.
