Marcus Kyle Widmer, 30, formerly of Genoa, died Friday, August 12, 2016, at his residence in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He was born June 15, 1986, in Oregon, Ohio, to Gary R. Widmer and Heidi M. (Driver) Shank. Marcus was a 2004 graduate of Genoa Area High School, where he had played football and wrestled, and he had attended one year at the University of Toledo. He had been a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. His self-proclaimed greatest achievement was always his beautiful daughter, Vivianna. His passion was MMA, he excelled as an amateur and was undefeated as a professional. Marcus thrived on activity and didnt like down time. Marcus loved to experience new places, one of his most frequent favorites being Colorado. He enjoyed working as an electrical apprentice. He was an outdoorsman, gardener, baker, writer and all around sweet man. He was creative and well cultured. Marcus was one of the friendliest people you would ever meet; he talked to everyone and just genuinely cared about people. Surviving Marcus are many people who loved him including his mother and step father, Heidi and Douglas Shank, father, Gary Widmer, daughter, Vivianna Alma Widmer, brother, Michael Widmer, step brother, Kurtis Shank, grandfather, Michael Driver, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandparents, Phyllis Driver, Robert and Carole Widmer, Ilene Fowler and Richard Shank and many great grandparents preceded him in death. A graveside service for Marcus will be held Friday, August 26, at 11am in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, followed by a celebration of life gathering and light catered luncheon at Brunner Campus 1224 West St., Genoa.
