Marcia Ann Dunn Siemens, age 64 of Monclova Township passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. The bravery, dignity and strength with which she fought this horrible disease was cause for admiration for all who knew Marcia, and she became their hero. Marcia was born September 24, 1949 in Toledo to the late John E. and Bernice J. Spitler Dunn and grew up in the West End. She was a proud member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, graduated from Start High School in 1967 and attended the University of Toledo. Marcia started her career at the Kroger Company in 1969, quickly rising through the ranks to upper management. She began as a cashier and retired as manager for Sales and Profit for 24 stores in Northwest Ohio. She spent a good portion of her career in both Consumer and Community Affairs and Marcia will be remembered for guiding the corporate leadership into the service of the community. She organized Krogers involvement with many special projects including: City of Toledo Fireworks, Toledo Ballet Nutcracker, COSI and Toledo Zoo Summer Seasons, Jamie Farr Kroger Classic, JCC Health Fair, Harvest of Thanks Benefit Auction, Scouting for Food, Mercy Childrens Hospital Hugs Helper Program, BG Fireworks, UT and BGSU Sports Programs and First Night Toledo. Marcias philanthropy was further reaching than with her company. She was the Vice President of Development and Fundraising for the Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank; member of the Salvation Army, Toledo Chamber of Commerce Solicitations Review Committee, St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Foundation Marketing Committee, National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, Girl Scout Council Scholarship Committee, United Way Promotions and Marketing Committee, Second Harvest Community Service Board, Board of Trustees of Citifest; appointee of the Mayor Ford Inaugural Committee; headed the financial committee for Mayor Michael Bells first term; 2002 Toledo City Council Outstanding Community Citizen award winner; and recently was honored with the J. Michael Hill Leadership Award. Marcia was also active with civil service, serving on Berkey Village Council from 1976-1980 including as Police Commissioner in 1976 and Clerk of Courts from 1976-77. Her most treasured role was that of wife and best friend to her devoted husband of 44 years, Donald. Marcia was also a loving daughter and wonderful sister, aunt and good friend to many. She was intelligent, fun-loving and well known for her sense of humor, compassion and generosity. She touched many lives and her memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Donald; loving sister and best friend, Mary Ellen Dunn of Maumee; brother, Thomas M. Dunn of Toledo; brother-in-law, Jim Carolyn Siemens of Virginia; nieces, Tiffany Scott Harder, Renee Nick Foels, Laura Dunn, Jessica John Lantz and Kimberly Tom Jones; and three beloved great nephews and great niece. Friends are invited to visit the family on Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services to honor and celebrate Marcias life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013. Entombment Toledo Memorial Park.
