Marcia Ann Grossmann, age 86, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the Lakes of Sylvania. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on April 26, 1939, to Marcel and Angela (Norton) Kellermeier, Marcia lived a life marked by empathy, dedication, and deep love for her family and community.
A proud 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Marcia pursued her passion for nursing at St. Vincent School of Nursing in Toledo, where she graduated in 1960 at the top of her class. Her career in public healthcare was distinguished and impactful, leading to a scholarship to Ohio State University. She later returned to St. Vincent’s Hospital as an educator, sharing her knowledge and nurturing future nurses. Marcia also worked with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and ProMedica, contributing to the health and well-being of countless individuals.
On June 4, 1966, Marcia married the love of her life, Joe Grossmann, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Together they built a wonderful life over 59 years raising three beautiful children. She joyfully welcomed 8 grandchildren whom brought her abundant joy and smiles and with whom she treasured every moment.
Marcia was a woman of faith and embraced a beautiful devotion to our Lord Jesus and His Blessed Mother which led to a pilgrimage with her daughter to Medjugorje. She was active in her Catholic faith and participated in CRHP retreats, prayer groups, and Con Brio Choir at Sylvania St. Joseph.
In retirement, Marcia continued to serve others through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and reading programs for children. She cherished family vacations to Siesta Key and traveled to visit with close friends. The years were marked by family celebrations where the arrival of Marcia’s blueberry cheesecakes and buckeyes were always a delight and games of cards or dominoes were enjoyed together. She had a knack for buying beautiful and thoughtful gifts for her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Marcia looked forward to her Pinochle card group and time crocheting at the senior center as well as completing gorgeous jigsaw puzzles at home. Her love of flower gardening, walking, and enjoying backyard birds and wildlife reflected her deep appreciation for nature. A lifelong reader, Marcia passed her love of books to her grandchildren, often taking them on visits to the library and treasuring moments reading together.
Marcia is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Grossmann; her children, Jon Grossmann, Jeff Grossmann, and Joan Kelly (Paul) Miller; her beloved grandchildren, Joe, Sarah, Emily, Beth, Mary, John and Jenny Miller, and Leah Grossmann; and her siblings, Don (Carime) Kellermeier, Joan (Roger) Seibenick, and Debi (Omar) Hickle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her family would like to extend deepest gratitude to all of the staff at the Lakes of Sylvania for their patience and loving care. Thank you also to the many residents at the Lakes for the laughter, stories, and time spent together.
