Marcia Toby Dolin, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Bonita Springs, Florida on February 7, 2022.
Marcia, born on January 8, 1933, was the only child of Jack and Ida Erlen. Her parents owned Toby’s Market, which they intentionally named after Marcia. She was often found in the market helping her parents. In Marcia’s free time, she enjoyed getting together with cousins and spending time at her family’s lake house.
After graduating high school, Marcia followed in her father’s footsteps and went to The Ohio State University, where she received a degree in Business. While there, Marcia met her loving husband, Edward Dolin. She was very proud to have lived in Baker Hall and frequently told stories about her time on campus.
Edward and Marcia were married on September 12, 1954. Following their wedding, Edward was stationed in Ansbach, West Germany where they began their married life. Soon after, their first child was born. They traveled home from Germany on a ship with their dog Schatzki and newborn son.
They chose to continue their lives in her hometown of Toledo. In December of 1960, Marcia and Edward started Monroe Pharmacy and ran it together until his passing in 2015. They took great pride in their partnership in running the store and raising their four children. Together, they were extremely devoted parents and later grandparents.
When Marcia wasn’t raising her children or working, she was very social. Marcia loved meeting new people and helping them in any way she could. She often used her creative talents to knit, crochet and quilt gifts for family and friends. Marcia also enjoyed playing mahjong and bridge. She was especially proud to have earned her Life Master ranking in bridge.
As avid boaters and members of the Catawba Island Club, Edward and Marcia appreciated time spent on their boat. They often cruised Lake Erie and traveled to many ports, including Mackinac and Beaver islands Through boating, they established many meaningful, life-long friendships.
Surviving are her children; sons Lawrence (Debbie) and Steven (Deborah) Dolin; daughters Susan Rothschild (Brett Shafran) and Robin Lifter (Jon Wasserstrom); and grandchildren; Chloe and Julia Rothschild (Jared Berg); Ilana and Jacob Dolin; Jeremy and Amanda Lifter.
