Marcelino K. Castilleja, 92, of Genoa, Ohio died Monday, January 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on June 2, 1928 to Crespin and Locadia (Carrion) Castilleja. Marcelino married Rutila Garcia in Covington, Kentucky on March 28, 1949 and she proceeded him in death on February 17, 2012 after 62 years of marriage. Marcelino worked at U.S. Gypsum in Genoa for 4 years then worked at Martin Marietta Co. in Woodville for 41 years before retiring on April 9, 1994. He enjoyed traveling to visit with family in Texas, going to the casino, all things Mickey Mouse, collecting aluminum cans and spending time with his large family. Marcelino leaves to cherish his memory his children, Gloria (Michael) Pearce, Esther Sandwisch, Rutila (Eddie Almaraz) Artiaga, Olga (Craig) Bechtel, David (Mary Lou) Castilleja, Rachel (David) Riffle, Steve (Jackie) Castilleja, Martin (Kimberly) Castilleja, Lucy (Tony Latona) Castilleja, Thomas (Dawn) Castilleja, and Jesse (Cynthia) Castilleja. Marcelino also had 34 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife Rutila; daughters Dora Pecina and Mary Castilleja; brother Rosendo Castilleja; and an infant sister. Private visitation will be on Friday at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa. A public funeral service for Marcelino will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Auditorium, Genoa with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Per the Governor’s order, facial coverings are required and social distancing to be observed. Memorial contributions in memory of Marcelino may be given to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa.
