Marcel Jean Dinouart

Marcel Jean Dinouart, age 88, of Toledo passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Flower Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Chatenois-les-Forges, France, the son of Claire and Theodule Dinouart. Marcel served in the French Resistance during World War II. He came to the United States in 1948 at the invitation of General Motors in Flint, Michigan. There he met and then married Genevieve Dalle in 1956. They soon moved to Toledo and became US citizens. He left General Motors in 1958 and worked as a structural detailer and designer before joining Samborn, Steketee, Otis and Evans in 1963. He became an associate and served as department manager for project models. Marcel retired in 1990 and pursued his passion for art as a painter and sculptor. He loved woodworking, cooking, traveling and the great outdoors. Most of all, he loved his family deeply. He will be missed. Surviving is his son, Gregory Dinouart; daughter, Dominique Martin Mintz; grandchildren, Elijah Rachael Mintz and Nicole David Kendall; and great-grandchildren, Alexxy, Tia, Levi, Madeline and Lyle. A memorial gathering will be held at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 1-4 PM to celebrate Marcels life.
