George Rouse passed away January 14th, 2009, and Malvina Rouse passed away January 24th, 2009, both at Swan Creek Retirement Village. They were going to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this year. George graduated from Renssalear Polytec Institute in Electrical Engineering, Malvina graduated from Oneonta and Columbia University in Education. In raising their children they involved themselves as their leaders for 4-H, their church Youth Group and the schools PTA. They retired in 1974 to their favorite Sag Harbor where they enjoyed activities with the community, friends and church. They will be known for doing things for friends and family without ever being asked, they just knew it needed to be done. They loved their boating and fishing, their gardens, and giving of their time. Family and friends loved to stay with George and Malvina and to get involved with their activities. They moved to Swan Creek Retirement Village, Toledo in August 2003 enjoying a view of Swan Creek and the woods, and again became involved with their new community and friends. They loved helping their neighbors, dinner with friends, game nights, staying in touch by computer, and involvement with the gift shop. They appreciated all the help from Swan Creek staff, family and friends that visited. They loved to hold each others hand and tell them they loved each other. They were preceded in death by their parents. They are survived by their children, Roger June Rouse, Kenneth Sally Rouse and Peggy Malcolm Richards, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grand-children. A memorial for George was held at Swan Creek January 22, and a memorial for Malvina will be held at 2 p.m. in the Assisted Living 1st floor Dining Room, Wednesday, Feb 11th, 2009. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Swan Creek Retirement Village for welcoming George and Malvina and always being there for them. Donations may be made to Old Whalers Church, P.O. Box 1241, Sag Harbor, NY 11963 or Swan Creek Retirement Village, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, OH 43614.
