Mahlon Ernest Lau, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on December 16, 2012, at the age of 91. He was born May 11, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Ernest and Christine Arndt Lau. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Pearl J. Anderson Lau in 1995, and brothers Raymond, Irving, and Orrin. He was a member of Allen Township Fire Department for 20 years as a volunteer firefighter. Mahlon was a member of Iron Workers Local 55, supervisor for the Ohio Department of Transportation, assistant to the Deputy of Transportation, and served on the County Board of Elections. He retired in 1980. Mahlon was respected and admired by his co-workers, fondly called Fuzzy by those he worked with. Mahlon was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was passionate about farming, golfing, dancing and fishing. Mahlon married Doris Miller of Adrian, Michigan, on November 15, 1997, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Phillip Mahlon Lau of El Paso, Texas, and Mahlon Martin Lau of Curtice, Ohio, granddaughters Krista Aguirre Richard Aguirre and Staci Lau-Taylor Dallas Taylor, great grandchildren, Christopher and Nickolas Aguirre, Ian Lau, Nicole, Kenzi, and Kaelyn Taylor all of El Paso, Texas. Friends may call 3-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, with a firefighters service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo St., Williston, with Pastor Shawn OBrien officiating; burial will follow in Allen Township Cemetery. Donations can be made in Mahlons name to St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W.
