Mae D. Hepner, 86, of Green Springs, formerly of Oak Harbor, died Friday, December 28, 2012, in Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, Ohio. Mae was born May 19, 1926, in Fremont to Herman A. and Katherine R. Grundy Smith. At St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont, she married Harold C. Hepner on February 25, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1968. Mae retired in 1989 from the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston after 20 years working as an LPN. She had also worked at other hospitals in the area. Mae was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. One of her favorite pastimes she enjoyed most was sewing. Mae is survived by her son, Carl E. Hepner of Green Springs, sister, Nancy Paul Roach of Lindsey, and brothers, Jack Smith of Gibsonburg and Ward Karen Smith of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, daughter, Carol Ann Hepner, sister, Lois Nycum, and brothers, Leroy and Glen Smith. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family has requested memorials for Mae to Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
