Mack D. Clayton

July 17, 1927 — August 25, 2013

Mack D. Clayton, of Rossford, peacefully passed from this earth Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-River Road at the age of 86. He was born July 17, 1927, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to parents, Mack and Vio Clayton. Mack was raised on his parents automated dairy farm with his older brother, Charles Villard. Mack was taught from a very young age the importance of faith in God, a steadfast determination, and an endless work ethic. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, where he served four years during World War II. Mack met the love of his life, Arlene Ralston, and after a three year courtship they were wed September 1, 1951. Mack and Arlene raised two daughters. He was self-employed, 12 years owning and operating Clayton Nursery and Landscaping. He later retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford in 1985, after 30 years of employment. Mack was preceded in death by his brother; parents, and his wife of 61 years, Arlene. Surviving are his daughters, Shirley Gary Pollman and Sandy John Lonchyna; grandchildren, Amy Pollman, Amber Brian Wisniewski, Rachel Lonchyna, Angie Pollman, and Ramsey Wellman; great-grandchildren, Kendall and Avery Wisniewski; sisters-in-law, Lois Dave Forche, Margaret Bob August, Mary Winnie Don Mangold, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no visitation and memorial services with interment to be private. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-River Road for their compassionate care and attention and wishing to thank those extending their sympathy and prayers during this time.
