M. Jane Aurand

Mary “Jane” Aurand, 79, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on June 10, 2024 at Lakes of Monclova. Jane was born June 28, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio to John O’Neil and Mary (Henige) O’Neil Szalkowski. She married James J. Aurand on February 18, 1972 in Perrysburg and they shared 35 years together until he passed on September 1, 2007.

Jane was a hairdresser for 10 years before discovering her real passion, which was educating young children. She went on to teaching preschool for 35 years at Kids World in Perrysburg. Jane was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church for 50 years and enjoyed watching game shows, sewing, arts and crafts and playing games on her tablet. Her greatest love was her grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with. Jane will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her wonderful personality.

She is survived by her children, Jodi (David) Nankee of Wooster, OH and Jamie (Dawn) Aurand of Maumee, OH; step-children, Douglas Aurand of NM, Jeffrey Aurand of Perrysburg, OH, Melissa (Paul) Daniels of AZ and Susan Ronquillo of NM; grandchildren, Emily and Robbie Nankee, Christopher and Caitlyn Aurand; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her sister, Joyce (Dave) Plummer. Along with her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald McPhee and her parents, John and Mary.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Jane’s name to St. Rose Catholic Church.
