Lynn D. Ryan, age 92, of Toledo, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at home with his beloved wife and caregiver Dottie by his side. He was born January 17, 1924 in Toledo to the late James and Georgia (Crouse) Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Lewis) Ryan; and much loved sister-in-law, Virginia Lewis of Connecticut. Lynn was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lewis Ryan and Janet Hamilton. A 1942 graduate of Libbey High School, Lynn served in the United States Army 421st Rocket Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. He was stationed primarily on Okinawa, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Lynn was employed in sales promotion with Columbia Gas for more than 35 years working with land developers and home builders. Throughout that time, he enjoyed and was very skilled at building and remodeling. This led to starting Lynn Ryan Builders in 1981, which he operated for 20 years. Lynns business handled both private and commercial projects, including transforming the former Hamlin Hotel downtown into the Manahan-Pietrykowski Law Firm. He was very creative and had a keen eye for his work. Lynn was a 65-year member of Sylvania Pyramid Lodge #287, Free and Accepted Masons. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to the Green Mountains in Vermont on summer trips. At Lynns request, there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
