Lyndell "Lynn" Gowing, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Lynn was a woman whose life was defined by her deep compassion, unwavering dedication, and the joy she found in the people and traditions she cherished most.
Lynn was born on January 18, 1953. She was a graduated from Whitmer High School in 1971. Lynn loved her family with all her heart, and nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with them. She took great pride in attending her great-grandchildren's sporting events, always cheering them on with enthusiasm and love.
She had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests that reflected her joyful spirit. Lynn was an avid NASCAR fan, she loved visiting different race tracks cheering on her favorite driver, Kyle Busch. enjoyed browsing craft shows, and found great delight in decorating her home for every season, creating warm and festive spaces for those she loved. She also loved attending country concerts, going camping, and was especially fond of music by Luke Bryan.
Lynn dedicated 30 years of service to the University of Toledo, where she built lasting relationships and contributed meaningfully to her workplace community. Following her retirement, she continued her career with the University of Toledo Federal Credit Union, where she remained a valued and familiar presence. She was a devoted CWA local 4319 representative.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and her unwavering love for her family. Lynn's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the memories she created with those she held dear. She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine (Melvin) Cook, and Audra Lynn McIntosh (Mark Rumsey); grandchildren, Mark (Summer) Rumsey Jr, Nicholas Rumsey, Andrew (Paige) Cook, and Aaron (Katie) Cook; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Duane (Jackie) Lanham, Ronald (Jan) Lanham, and Steven (Grace) Lanham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gowing; mother, Patricia Louise Orosz (Smith); and father, Merlyn Frederick Lanham.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH on Friday, April 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m., with visitation preceding from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
