Lydia Mefferd passed away, Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Kingston Perrysburg Memory Care after a long, brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and much too soon.
Lydia June Dial was born April 9, 1952 in Effingham, IL to parents Norma June Dial and Leo Dial. In 1963 she relocated with her mother and brothers to Lima, OH. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1970 where she also met the love of her life.
Lydia attended Bowling Green State University and was in Delta Gamma sorority. In 1972, she married David Mefferd and they had three sons. Lydia’s world revolved around her kids and family. She loved cooking, holidays, golfing and days at Indian Lake. She was president of the elementary parent’s club and could be counted on as a vocal supporter from the stands at all of the sporting events. Lydia brought much joy and was loved by all who knew her.
Lydia is survived by husband, Dave; sons, Bart (Molly), Steve (Andrea); grandchildren, Mallorie, Brayden, Braxton and Kendyl; brother, Kevin Singer (Cheri); stepsisters, Elaine VanVorhiss (Rick) and Deb Meinberg (Jack) and special family friend, Matt Speegle (Lori).
Lydia was preceded in death by her son, Nate Mefferd, mother, June Weaver, stepfather, Gene Weaver, brother, Dennis Dial, father-in-law, Richard Mefferd and mother-in-law, Margaret Mefferd.
Friends and family will received Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 10-11 a.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
