Luther M. Slim Whitaker

Luther “Slim” M. Whitaker, 76, of Walbridge, OH, passed away, Thursday, September 17, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Luther was born on August 18, 1939 in Durham, NC, the son of Lonnie G. and Viola “Bunny” (Donnathon) Whitaker. On September 03, 1978 in Oak Harbor, OH, he married Harriet E. Priddy and she survives. He worked as a truck driver for 37 years. Luther was a member of Teamsters Local 20, the Moose Lodge #1610 in Port Clinton and the Moose Lodge in Clyde, OH. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 37 years: Harriet E. Whitaker; Sons: Rickey Dean (Cheryl) Whitaker, David Luther Whitaker and James Lee (Carol) Whitaker; Step-Daughters: Darlene (Bill) McMillion and Carolyn (Jonathan) Snyder; Grandchildren: Natasha Stinson, Al Schneider, Ryan (Beth) Whitaker and Ross Whitaker; Great-Grandchildren: Kismet Christiansen, Karma Christiansen, Christopher McMillion, Hailey McMillion, Carson Whitaker, Liam Whitaker and Violet Whitaker; Sisters: Dorothy Dunakin and Martha (Dennis) Morton. Luther was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Lonnie Ray Whitaker & L.G. Whitaker. Visitation will be 2-4PM, Saturday, September 19, 2015, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a funeral service conducted at 4:00PM. Memorial donations in memory of Luther may be given to Heartland Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
