Luke Oscar Sherman, age 15 months, of Petersburg, MI, passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2023. Luke was born March 18, 2022, to his loving and devoted parents, Scott and Sydney (Lenhart) Sherman.
Luke, also known by his big brother as “Baby Luke”, “Baby Lukey”, and “Bukey”, was surrounded by the love of family throughout his life. He was all boy and loved to play outside. He loved riding on the boat with his family and throwing rocks in the lake. He always showed off his big smile and dimples along with his new teeth. He recently started to point and say, “uh-oh” and “thank you”. Bukey loved being held and cuddled. His bright blue eyes and beautiful white hair were captivating. Bukey found great joy in playing with his brother Ryan, who he loved deeply. He was baptized May 15, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, where he was welcomed into the New and Eternal Covenant of Jesus Christ. As his family grieves the loss of his physical presence, they will forever cherish and appreciate the gift of Luke’s life to them.
Luke is survived by his dad and mom, Scott and Sydney Sherman; big brother, Ryan; maternal grandparents, David and Coleen Lenhart; paternal grandmother, Mary Sherman; great grandfather, David Lenhart; aunts, Mallory and Kylee Lenhart; uncle, John (Megan) Sherman; and cousins, Steven and Sadie Sherman.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Stephen Sherman; and great grandparents, Rita Lenhart, William and Marsha Ryan, Oscar and LaVelle Sherman, William and Barbara Bivenour.
Family and friends are invited to visit in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road), Toledo, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 4-8 p.m., concluded with prayers at 8 p.m. Luke’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main Street, Sylvania. Interment will be private.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, are requested to Hillsdale College, 33 E. College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242, in Luke’s honor.
