Lucille C. Grant

January 30, 1927 — May 24, 2018

Lucille (Lucy) Clarice Grant passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Perrysburg, OH. Lucy was born January 30, 1927 to Henry and Anna (Breggeman) Myhre in DeForest Wisconsin. Her childhood was on the farm where her early education was a one room school house that led to a lifelong love of learning. An only child, Lucy entertained herself with reading and memorization of songs and poems. An avid reader, she was known for her elegant correspondence and beautiful penmanship and sharp mind. She graduated from DeForest High in 1944 as Valedictorian and with a bachelors degree in English from the University of Wisconsin Summa cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Married in 1948 to Alden (Bud) Grant, a WWII veteran, for 62 years with 3 daughters. Bud’s career took him to Grand Rapids, Michigan where Lucy worked as a Legal Secretary for Warner, Norcross and Judd, Attorneys. In retirement they moved to Lakeview, Michigan where they were active members of Lakeview Free Methodist Church, then later back to Cascade, MI where they resumed their membership at Cascade Christian Church. After Bud’s death in 2011 and following a stroke in 2013, she moved to Perrysburg, Ohio to an assisted living facility near her daughter Ginny where she attended McCord Road Christian Church. Lucy is survived by her three daughters, Susan Grant of Commerce, MI, Becky (Bob) Bronec of Carter, MT, and Ginny (Steve) Superits of Toledo, OH, with 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her loving kindness and Christian faith are her legacy - a courageous and Proverbs 31 woman with her children rising up and calling her blessed! Memorial service will be held at Cascade Christian Church at a date to be determined and donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the church. The Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, 419.841.2422, www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
