Lucille Marie Gladieux

Lucille Marie Gladieux, age 98 of Monclova, OH passed away peacefully on March 29, 2018 at the Elizabeth Scott Community where she had lived for 7 years. Lucille was born Lucille Marie Gehring on September 29, 1919 to Harry and Hazel (Heider) Gehring. She lived on Jackman Road and graduated from Devillis High School. Lucille met Walter Gladieux at a roller skating rink and were married on February 14th, 1942 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. They were married for 68 years before Walter passed away. Lucille and Walt moved to a small farm in Monclova in 1949. There they raised 7 children. As a stay at home mother and farmers wife, she kept very busy with an egg route, gardening, lots of laundry, even driving a tractor if needed. At one time there was a half acre red raspberry patch. Neighborhood teens would be paid by the berry basket to pick them. Lucille was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee. She was also involved with Knights of Columbus and St. Lukes Hospital ladies auxiliaries, and a supportive 4-H mom for 10 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and following Walt on whatever adventure he pursued. They traveled with motor home clubs. And spent 25 years wintering in Okeechobee, Florida. Lucille is survived by children, Martin ( Jennifer) Gladieux, Richard (Mary) Gladieux, Jane (Lance) Fuller, Carol (Jeff) Schuster, Walt Gladieux, Jr.; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition ot her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her son Gregory, daughter Barbara, granddaughter Savannah, grandson, Brent and sister Dorothy Laux. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH. from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
