Lucille M. Gackstetter

September 3, 1931 — January 3, 2025

Lucille M (Kreager) Gackstetter has joined her loved ones on January 3, 2025.  Lucille was born on a farm just east of Martin, Ohio to Edward & Stella (Lowe) Kreager on September 3, 1931. On October 13, 1951, she married George Gackstetter at Trinity UCC Church in Elliston, Ohio and their son, Bruce, was born on September 12, 1953.  Lucille was a 1949 graduate of Genoa Area Local Schools and played on the school basketball team. She was elected May Queen in her Senior Prom. That same year, she was chosen Miss Oak Harbor and went on to participate in the Toledo Aquarama Beauty Contest.


Lucille’s first job was a secretary to Harold McMaster, President, of Permaglass in Genoa. She later worked at Lathams Super Dollar in Genoa as an Office Manager & Head Cashier. In 1957, she became head teller at Mid-Am Bank branch in Northwood and ultimately retired from the banking after being the Vice President & Corporate Secretary of Genoa Bank. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Sarasota, Florida. When her husbands health began to decline, they moved back to Ohio.

Lucille was a member of the former National Association of Bank Women, Ohio Baners Association, Genoa Business & Professional Women, Bank Administration Institute, served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, was a graduate of the Ohio School of Banking, Ohio University and served on the Finance Committee at Trinity UCC. In recent years, she volunteered at St. Charles Mercy Hospital.


Surviving are her siblings: Barbara (Dennis) Gadda (Sunbury, Ohio); sister-in-law Nancy Kreager (Lexington, Kentucky); grandchildren Brian Gackstetter (Wake Forest, North Carolina) and Chase Gackstetter (Toledo, Ohio); great-grandchildren Matthew, McKenzie & Tristan Gackstetter (Wake Forest, North Carolina) and Addison Gackstetter (Toledo, Ohio) and many nieces & nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, George; son, Bruce; granddaughter, Alyssa; sisters Anges York and Ellen Schulte; brothers Richard Kreager, Edward Kreager & Walter Kreager.


Funeral services for Lucille will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH with visitation at the church from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Lucille may be given to the George, Bruce, and Alyssa Gackstetter Scholarship Fund at Genoa Bank, St. John's United Church of Christ, Genoa, or Allen-Clay Joint Volunteer Fire Department.
