Lucille L. Driftmeyer

Lucille (Lehr) Driftmeyer of Perrysburg died Thursday, August 8, 2013, two weeks shy of her 106th birthday. Born on August 20, 1907 in Bryan, Ohio to Henry and Carrie (Rhoda) Lehr, from childhood Lucille was affectionately called “Honey” by family and friends because of her sweet disposition. Lucille was the wife of the late Frederick “Fritz” Driftmeyer and the sister of the late Daisy (Lehr) Hoffmann and the late Marcus Lehr. She was a life-long resident of Perrysburg, graduating Perrysburg High School in 1925. After, she attended Davis Business College, and worked at Citizens Bank in Perrysburg as a bank teller for many years. She and her husband Fritz enjoyed 54 years of marriage and traveled to the Orient, Russia, Nepal, India and many European countries. She was the oldest parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and an active volunteer in the Altar Society, Helping Hands and as a money counter. She also was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank for several years. She is survived by nephews William Lehr of Temperance, Michigan, Charles Hoffmann of Lisbon, Ohio, David Hoffmann (Sharon) of Perrysburg, Ohio and niece Ann Herbert (Terry) of Florida. Also surviving her are ten great-nieces and six great-nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews and her faithful friend, Ann Mae Whaley. Lucille wished to extend a very sincere thank you to her family and friends for their many kindnesses to her over the years. Visitation will be at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St., Perrysburg (419-874-3133) on Sunday, August 11, 2013 between the hours of 3 pm and 8 pm with a scripture service at 7 pm. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 9:45 am. The funeral Mass will follow at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St., Perrysburg at 10:30 am. Internment will be in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery in Perrysburg. The family requests that contributions be made in her name to the St. Rose Education Fund or to the Zoar Lutheran Church.
