Lucille Lu Detty, 85, of Genoa, died early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, at the Genoa Retirement Village. Lu was born October 9, 1930, in Millbury, Ohio, to William and Edna (Kopfman) Schanke. She was a 1948 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School. Lu married Benton Ben Detty in Angola, Indiana, on August 1, 1951. She worked as an assignment clerk for the telephone company, where she began as an operator for the former Northern Ohio Telephone, which then became GTE. After working various other positions, she retired from Verizon, now known as Frontier. For her whole life, Lus home and family were always the most important. Surviving Lu are her husband, Ben, daughter, Kim (Gary) Sosnowicz, of Toledo, grandsons, Anthony Sosnowicz of Holland and Nicolas Sosnowicz of Toledo, and brothers-in-law, Jim Dutton of Milford, CT, Joe (Fern) Detty of Londonderry, OH along with several nieces and nephews. Lu was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marian Dutton. Visitation for Lucille will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at the funeral home followed by interment in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
