Lowell “Hank” Henry Baker Jr. passed away October 14, 2022, at seventy-five years of age. He was born October 5, 1947, to Lowell and Alice Baker in Toledo. He graduated from Clay High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970, finishing as a sergeant. He retired from the Toledo Blade after a 44 year career there in the advertising department.
Hank’s “nice guy” demeanor and quirky sense of humor won the hearts of many that he met out and about the shops and restaurants he frequented in Perrysburg, his hometown for the last 42 years. He loved the outdoors and fishing at the lake with his family, inviting as much family along on his vacation as could fit in the cabin. His love for his country, freedom, baseball, and very hot coffee was known to those he called friends. Hank was an astute speller, secret poet, avid carnivore, excellent marksman, and voracious reader. He adored his fourteen grandchildren, and absolutely cherished his time with them.
Hank is survived by Becky Baker, his best friend and wife of 42 years. Other survivors include daughter Jennifer Loomis and grandsons Justin and Jacob; son Christopher Nathan Baker; son Chad (Stacy) Lehmann and granddaughters Lily and Alivia Lehmann; son Eric (Diane) Baker and granddaughters Erin, Jessica, and Brooklyn Baker; daughter Brianna (George) Bell and grandchildren Jude, Silas, Adeline, Rosalie, Elodie, Ezra, and Gioia: brothers Kurt (Linda) and Peter Baker: four nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Burt.
Visitation will be held at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E.
