Louise A. Ruhland

Louise A. Ruhland, age 93, of Maumee, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 in the Elizabeth Scott Care Center. She was born October 3, 1916 in Maumee to Henry and Grace LeFevre Geiger. Louise worked at LOF in Rossford during WWII with her sister, May and were two of the very few women that made the nose piece for the B-29 super fortress bombers. She was also employed as a cafeteria worker for the Toledo Board of Education for 17 years, retiring in 1982. Louise was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and Franciscan Guild at Little Flower Parish where she was a parishioner. In her younger days, Louise enjoyed roller skating and attending car races at Fort Miami Fairgrounds. She also loved to crochet afghans especially for her family members. The widow of Paul J. Ruhland who passed away February 4, 1970, Louise is survived by her loving family; son, Paul G. Michelle Ruhland; daughter, Cynthia Bob Rutowski; grandsons, Paul J. Ruhland and James P. Ruhland; sisters, Margaret Harpole and May Norman Richardson; and brother, Henry Mary Jane Geiger. In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Wagner, Edna Hare and Rose Anna Paavo and brothers, George, Jack and Charles Geiger. Family and friends may visit Monday, February 1, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH. Visitation will then continue Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Church 5522 Dorr Street followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
